Approximately 3,000 A-bomb survivors are living in Korea. Sixty-seven years have now passed since they were A-bombed and obviously they are quite old. Therefore, it is expected that an environment where they can get adequate medical care more routinely and comfortably will be prepared.
Furthermore, due to the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, there has been growing attention of the effects of radiation exposure on health domestically and internationally.
Jointly with NASHIM, which has a great deal of experience in support for A-bomb survivors in Korea, HICARE held a seminar and other events on the most recent findings on medical care for the radiation-exposed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, as well as responses to the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant and its effects on health, intended for medical professionals engaged in medical care for A-bomb survivors in Korea.
This was the first time that HICARE held a seminar in Korea and a joint seminar with NASHIM abroad.
