Feedback:

◆I’ve been working with Nagasaki University, for a long period of time, on the psychological effects of A-bomb survivors. The HICARE training was very useful as it provided me with the briefings about A-bomb survivors and details of their medical care.
When I go back to Korea, I will gather materials about A-bomb survivors and their 2nd /3rd generation descendents living in Korea (through the Korean Red Cross). I’m also planning to confirm if the A-bomb survivors’ blood samples are preserved in Korea like they have in Japan.
In addition, I’d like to work on starting Korea – Japan joint research on “telomere erosion” - a new field in genetic research.

◆In Korea, I only had a vague image about the damage caused by A-bombing. However, seeing, feeling and hearing what really happened after the bombing, was an extremely valuable experience for me. I was also impressed with the systematic medical care and support for A-bomb survivors in Japan.
I believe that now I understand much better about the pain of A-bomb survivors. I’ll be more sympathetic to the needs of A-bombed patients in my hospital. I’d like to conduct observation and research on morbidity of autoimmune disorders (such as rheumatism, arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus) in survivors of the A-bomb.
