-I was impressed with the idea that Hiroshima shares the findings of the long-term research on medical care of the A-bomb survivors with medical professionals in the world.
-We had an opportunity to meet with a doctor, as a DMAT member, who actually supported the local victims of Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant accident – the complex disaster. His explanation and photographs of the site reinforced the reality of the disaster.
-I was impressed with the lecture at Hiroshima University Hospital. As a nurse, I am more interested in medical care than research. I was so touched to know that they managed somehow and dedicated themselves to save the victims in the chaos of the Fukushima disaster.
-I will tell what I learned in the HICARE training program to our patients, who are anxious about radiotherapy, to make them feel relieved during their treatment. Learning a lesson from Japan’s experience in damage by the radiation, I will reaffirm preparation for possible accidents and disasters as a critical care member of staff.
-It was very useful for me to visit the A-bombing site and to see what happened there with my own eyes. It is extremely significant for Hiroshima to put the enormous data – damage by the A-bombing, health care for the survivors, preserved records, etc. – into research outcomes which anybody in the world can utilize.
-The information we can get through clinical practices is limited. The HICARE program was very useful to make plans for research methods in more specific and advanced methods in the future. I will apply the knowledge I gained to my clinical field.
Received the certificate of completion from Dr. Saeko Fujiwara (in white coat), Director of Health Management & Promotion Center, Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Casualty Council
